Cancelled: Green Fleet Practice Session on Sunday Feb 7

February 3, 2010

[update: practice cancelled for Feb 7 due to (get this) too much water.  The dock is now floating is the middle of the cove]

There will be a Green Fleet practice session on Sunday, February 7, 2010, from 2 to 4 pm. Please read the attached attached notice notice for all the details and for the Green Fleet 2010 Spring Schedule. Please contact Yolanda (Ymares@earthlink.net) before Sunday if you would like to reserve an Opti. If you don’t need to reserve an Opti, but plan to bring your own, please also let me know.

Even if your skipper is not planning to sail on Sunday, you are welcome to join us at 4:30 for a brief Green Fleet meeting. We’ll be discussing many important items.

Green fleet, blue skies and orange cheers

October 20, 2009

We had a perfect, if a bit light, day for junior racing on Saturday, with 12 Optis and 3 Lasers on the line.  And way-to-go Longhorns for another ugly but welcomed win.

Thanks to Yolanda and all the parents for helping out.  Next practice is Sat Oct 24 (2pm), and next races are Sat Nov 14 and Dec 13.

July sailing class starts Saturday

June 25, 2009

Here are a few reminders before the first “July” PBJ class starts this Saturday (June 27).

  • Schedule: There will be four Saturday classes: 6/27, 7/11-18-25. (Note that we skip the July 4 weekend.) Your kiddo is enrolled in either the 9:30-11a or 11a-12:30p class.
  • Where to go: We’ll be at the junior dock in the right-side cove at the Austin Yacht Club. It’s a looong walk down to the dock, due to the low water level.
  • What to bring: Hat, lifejacket and sunscreen. We’ll have a cooler of water on the dock.
  • Lunch list: In the past, some parents have coordinated a pot-luck lunch after class by the pool. Here’s an online list to use to sign-up. Not mandatory, so it’s up to you.
  • Weather: The forecast for Saturday is HOT, with light winds (4-6 knots). If a class needs to be cancelled due to thunderstorms, we’ll send out an email at least an hour before class.
  • Photos/Videos: Check out the PBJ web site (www.sailpbj.com) for some videos from the June session.
  • Junior coaches: We’re looking for a few “PBJ alumni” (>10 yr olds) to help teach some of the younger kids. If you’re interested, please let me know.

Thanks for your support of PBJ sailing. John and I are excited to see everyone this weekend.
