Extreme Opti Sailing: 20knots in Corpus

March 17, 2011

Nice video of some Optis having fun Corpus Christi’s 20+ knots, at an INTYSA clinic last weekend.  Thanks to AYC member Eric Rochard for the forward.

Maybe we should teach some PBJ classes there?

2011 Roadrunner Results and Photos

March 9, 2011

There was no middle ground for the 92 boats at this year’s Roadrunner Regatta, with 20+ knots on Saturday and 0-5 knots Sunday.

Three cheers to everyone who participated, included the “longest traveled” group from Mississippi, and all who volunteered to make this event happen.  Check out the TSA Youth Circuit calendar for more events, including Canyon Lake (Mar 19-20).

Here are the race results and photos (thanks to Bill Records, ace photographer).

Roadrunner day one: breeze on

March 5, 2011

After the thunderstorms passed, the Optis and Lasers made the most of today’s 15-22 knot breezes in beautiful sunshine.  The Opti Green Fleet did very well in harbor’s shifty winds.  More racing on Sunday.

Sinking-boat-as-art

February 16, 2011

Ever wonder what Amarillo and Paris had in common?  Art!  Now you know.

French sculptor Julien Berthier’s fantastical “sinking boat” sculpture below is turning heads, and is a beautiful complement to Amarillo’s Caddilac Ranch, n’est pas?

Opti Warmup Clinic: Feb 20 @ 1pm

February 15, 2011

Alan Rochard, our local Opti Guru,  will be teaching a clinic this weekend.  We’ll also be introducing our new coach, Kate Noble, so please join us this Saturday, Feb 20 at 1:00pm.

this could be you...

Regardless of weather, we’d like everyone to come out – even if it’s too cold to sail, Alan will hold a chalk-talk and do a session on
rigging.  It’s also our first event of the season, so it’s a great time to see old friends and learn about what is planned for the year.

Bring-your-own-boat or borrow one of the club’s Optis.  We’ll have seven Opti’s available, so reserve yours soon by sending a note to brecordsfotos@yahoo.com.
